Nexium Uses

Esomeprazole supresses the function of the enzyme in our bodies that produces gastric acid, so Nexium is effective in reducing the amount of acid secretion in the stomach, thereby preventing serious acid damage to the digestive system and giving relief from acidity-related ailments.
With the help of acid, the stomach is able to move its food content into the intestines; when sufficient amounts of acid are not present in the stomach, the food is pushed back into the esophagus [reflux] which causes acidity, leading to pain in the abdomen or swallowing, heartburn, possibly inflammation and erosion of the throat [esophagus]. This is called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease [GERD].
Dyspepsia, commonly called indigestion, shows some of the same symptoms; besides there can be bloating and/or swelling of the abdomen, nausea, belching, and a feeling of satiety though a small amount of food may have been eaten. Dyspepsia can also occur because of an underlying stomach ulcer.
Pain and burning in the upper abdomen, alongwith copious vomiting [maybe with blood], may present itself because of a bile/pancreatic reflux, indicating the presence of a Peptic Ulcer. Other symptoms are loss of weight and appetite.
